Travelling as a family

Cruising with children: the AROYA family guide

Plan a more relaxed journey around your family's rhythm, from cabin arrangements to shore excursions.

A key benefit of family cruising is having options for different ages in one place. Clarifying a few details when booking makes your time together easier.

Ask the right questions when booking

Children's ages, including their age on the travel date, matter for cabin capacity, club groups, pricing and documents. Enter every passenger's age accurately and confirm the cabin layout suits your family.

Ask about children's club age groups, registration and opening hours when booking.
  • Ask about cabin bed arrangements and cot availability.
  • Consider connecting or nearby cabins early.
  • Confirm children's club age groups, registration and opening hours.
  • Declare allergies, dietary or accessibility needs in advance.

Documents for children

Children may need their own valid travel documents for the route. When travelling with one parent, another adult or different surnames, check in good time with official authorities and the sales team whether consent letters or extra documents are required.

Important: Document requirements vary by age, nationality and family circumstances. Use current consular and border-authority guidance instead of general internet information.

Your family's onboard routine

On the first day, find your cabin, muster station and an easy family meeting point together. Learn the children's club registration and collection procedures; depending on age, make sure your child carries the cabin number.

  • Complete children's club registration requirements.
  • Choose a family meeting point.
  • Read pool and water-park rules together.
  • Leave time for rest and free play every day.

Meals and shore days

Plan restaurant visits near your children's usual routine. Report food allergies before boarding and again at the restaurant. When choosing shore excursions, check duration, walking distances, child seats in vehicles and age restrictions.

You do not need to fill every port day with activities. A shorter outing combined with rest onboard may be more enjoyable for younger travellers.

Family hand luggage

  • Documents, regular medicines and copies of prescriptions.
  • A change of clothes and basic care items for each child.
  • Sun protection, hats and non-slip shoes.
  • A small, quiet game or book for waiting times.
  • If needed, baby food and special dietary products confirmed in advance.
